Peace in Yemen

The coalition of Journalists for Peace emerges as a result of the training program for journalists for peace. It springs from the efforts and directions of the National Reconciliation Stream.

Yemen stands at a dangerous crossroads, where fragile ceasefires, escalating regional conflicts, and worsening humanitarian conditions threaten to plunge the country back into full-scale war. Despite repeated diplomatic efforts, UN-led peace talks continue to falter. The de facto truce between the Houthis and their opponents hangs by a thread, and any collapse could lead to renewed fighting, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian crisis.

Amman, Jordan – 15 October 2024: In light of the ongoing difficult circumstances Yemen has faced for many years, and with a strong commitment to contributing to a just and sustainable peace, the “Second Consultation Meeting for Peace Initiatives in Yemen” concluded yesterday in the Jordanian capital, Amman. The meeting took place from 12-14 October 2024, with the participation of more than 35 Yemeni figures and influencers from different social and political background from various governorates and different parts of the world.

Yemen, a nation steeped in history and culture, has been gripped by a devastating conflict for nearly a decade, plunging it into a humanitarian crisis of unprecedented scale. Over 21 million Yemenis require assistance, facing severe shortages in food, healthcare, and infrastructure. Despite repeated peace efforts, the situation remains perilous.
